In the evening of Oct. 6, officers attempted to pull over Ricardo Singleton, 27, who was wanted after a hit-and-run incident earlier in the day, according to the Fairfax County Police Department.

When Singleton noticed the officers, he fired multiple rounds at them and fled to Fairfax County, authorities said.

As police chased Singleton, the suspect hit multiple cars and disabled his own on Arlington Boulevard near Graham Road, law enforcement reported.

Singleton eventually got out of his car and fired more shots at police. One officer responded with gunfire, by Singleton was not hit, officials said.

Officers found Singleton hiding nearby after the shooting fiasco, and he was arrested for felony eluding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, felony reckless discharge, as well as other offenses from this incident and the hit-and-run earlier in the day, officials said.

His firearm was confiscated and no bystanders were reported injured, police said.

Singleton was held at the Adult Detention Center and the officer who fired his gun at Singleton was placed on restricted duty status, per the department's protocol, officials said.
